The front-end manager
of this busy and growing grocery store recently implemented a new
Point-of-Sale cashier system. He needed a learning solution that
new managers could easily deliver to a high-turnover staff. |
|
| We
conducted a training needs analysis, and designed and developed
cashier training manuals on “basic training” for new employees and
advanced training for seasoned staff. We repurposed existing
vendor material and added several new modules. |

A city government was
federally mandated to conduct a 3rd party evaluation of their
transit system. They used volunteer ghost riders and data
collectors and needed to train them to conduct evaluations,
complete forms, and perform other duties. |
|
| We
designed, developed, and delivered training to volunteers and
created all training materials including an instructor guide,
activity materials, and learner guides. We advised on the format
and wording of the data collection forms. |

The University of
Minnesota, through a collaboration with national and local service
organizations, created “Leadership Advocacy for Vital Aging
Program,” an 8-session, non-credit course for professionals,
advocates, and individuals interested in developing leadership
among retired persons and senior citizens. |
|
|
We created the student guide containing all
in-class exercises and activities, assessments, reading material,
homework assignments, and evaluations materials. We edited and
re-wrote a large amount of primary material from various sources
for consistency of tone and style to enhance usability. |

The HHH Institute’s
Professional Services division needed to create a field guide for
elected officials, executive directors, community organizers,
etc., on how to build consensus. They had highly academic source
materials from various authors and needed to create a field guide
consistent in language, style, tone and format. |
|
|
We structured and then created “Building
Consensus,” one of several guides for clients of the Professional
Services division. We converted academic research material into a
practical and informative guide that was sold to the public. |

This international
non-profit needed to develop their curriculum for the 5-state
Midwest region. They needed a curriculum specialist to take
existing elementary and high school materials and refashion them
for middle school students. They also needed to conduct a
curriculum evaluation mandated by state grant guidelines. |
|
|
We created teacher and student guides. These
contained all of the materials necessary to implement the
curriculum. Highlights were lesson plans, recommended evaluation
procedures, state standards, and service learning methods. We also
created evaluation tools, analyzed data, and wrote the evaluation
report. |

The client needed fun
and relevant pre-and post-program activity materials for teachers
and students so that the Heritage Lab experience would be
transferred to home and the classroom. In addition, their
staff of naturalists needed training on various important aspects
of child learning and cognitions |
|
|
We gathered source materials on the theme topic and
wrote a 4-page engaging learning guide that teachers or parents
could use to make the Heritage Lab experience “come alive.” We
created a 2-hour hands-on workshop on questioning techniques,
child cognitive development, and learning styles. |

Project 1: The
director of education had collected Jr. Forest Ranger materials
from every program site in the nation and wanted to evaluate them
for best practices. She also wanted to be able to make
recommendations to her superiors to help streamline programming. |
|
|
We reviewed over 40 program materials and analyzed
them based on a rubric of curriculum excellence. We wrote our
recommendations for best practices so that directors could deliver
guidelines, quality controls, and protocols to National Forests
and State Parks. |

Project 2:
Three new environmental education curricula needed to be field
tested at various types of sites including schools, after school
programs, and by parents. |
|
|
We designed the evaluation techniques, methods, and
data-gathering tools. We conducted the evaluation at six sites,
led focus groups, and wrote reports. |
