Catalyst to Assist Human Rights Activist

Abebech “Mimi” Girma is an activist and artist who has led many initiatives to promote the human rights and dignity of refugees and victims of torture. A refugee from Ethiopia herself, she made her home in Minnesota after a circuitous and often tumultuous journey. Mimi is dedicated to bettering the world for all peoples through community-level activism, teaching, leading open dialog, and offering opportunities for cultural expression.

Catalyst is pleased to assist Mimi in defining her next endeavor and contribution to the local and global community. We are creating a catalog of her accomplishments, including, but not limited to her speaking engagements, publications, consulting, volunteerism, and research, and other contributions. This document may be the foundational material for plans to create a pan-African cultural center in Minnesota as well as other future bright spots.
